Emory University Student Health Services and the Departments of Family and Preventive Medicine and General Internal Medicine seek candidates for the position of a Clinical Provider with additional Assistant Director duties at Emory University Student Health Services (EUSHS). This administrative faculty physician reports directly to the Senior Director of Clinical Services (SDCS).
Job Description:
This administrative position is instrumental in maintaining the high quality, inclusive, evidence-based care which supports the success of our diverse, bright, and ambitious students. As part of the Executive Leadership Team at EUSHS, the Assistant Director aids the SDCS in the daily operations of the clinic to ensure high quality, integrated clinical services for students and dependent patients. The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of efficient, collaborative outpatient medical care, preferably within a student health center or a practice that caters to a young adult population. Serving as the clinical lead for the Immunization Compliance team comprised of Nursing staff, this position elevates our commitment to ensuring the safety of our student community from a public health standpoint. The Assistant Director also serves as the clinical lead for two additionally important service lines: Allergy and Travel Clinics.
Essential Responsibilities:
Clinical Care (70-80%)
o Provides direct outpatient primary care physician medical services (including Travel, Immunizations and Allergy) to Emory students and their adult dependents.
o Proficient in Primary Care, Urgent Care and Sexual and Reproductive Health Care for a young adult population (preferably student health related care including contraception, eating disorder management, transgender care, and mental health treatment).
o Experience in procedural skills such as suturing, incision and drainage and minor excisions. Sexual and Reproductive Health procedural experience preferred (IUD, colposcopies, Nexplanon insertions).
o Proficiency or willingness to engage in care through a telemedicine platform.
o Supports trainees at EUSHS, including Family and Preventive Medicine and General Internal Medicine residents.
Administrative (20-30%)
o Works in collaboration with the SDCS to ensure the quality of medical services, and to improve workflows to increase access and optimization of care.
o Represents the SDCS when he/she is on leave or otherwise absent
o Serves as the clinical lead for Immunization Compliance, Travel and Allergy Clinics.
o Facilitates weekly clinical provider meetings.
o Contributes to continuing education of providers through clinical case reviews, literature reviews, and guest speakers
o Focuses on several areas, including program and policy development awareness
o Other duties as identified to support students in their academic success and well-being during their tenure at Emory.
Position Requirements: MD or DO from an accredited medical or osteopathic medical school; completion of an accredited residency program and board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Med-Peds, Pediatrics-Adolescent Medicine, or Obstetrics-Gynecology; five (5) years of post-residency experience in practicing medicine in an ambulatory care environment; three (3) years of supervisory and administrative leadership experience; academic and professional accomplishments consistent with appointment as a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and General Internal Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine.
Preferred Skills
Superior communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and departments in a complex and vibrant university and academic healthcare setting; and competency in the use of electronic health records. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a college health setting and experience with AAAHC or Joint Commission Accreditations standards and processes.
