Position Overview
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU SOM) is expanding its Family Medicine faculty in Decatur, Illinois. We have rewarding full-time opportunities for physicians who are passionate about academic medicine, community health, and resident education.
We are seeking:
Family Medicine Faculty with Obstetrics – Full-spectrum practice including OB with teaching and inpatient responsibilities.
Assistant Program Director / Director of Osteopathic Education – Faculty leadership role focused on curriculum development, osteopathic recognition, and resident mentoring.
Both positions offer a meaningful blend of clinical care, teaching, and scholarship within an established residency program and affiliated Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings (including OB if applicable).
Supervise and teach resident physicians and medical students in clinic and hospital environments.
Lead educational rounds, lectures, and workshops.
Participate in departmental, residency, and community committees.
Support research and scholarly projects.
For osteopathic education leadership: oversee osteopathic curricular activities, maintain recognition standards, and guide DO resident scholarly efforts.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
Eligible for Illinois medical license and DEA.
Commitment to teaching, resident development, and serving diverse and underserved populations.
(For OB faculty) Proficiency in obstetrics and willingness to participate in call.
(For osteopathic leadership) Demonstrated commitment to osteopathic education and training.
