- Obstetrics & Gynecology Clerkship Director
Description
Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine (WSU BSOM) and Premier Health are seeking a physician that is an experienced educator to serve as the Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/Gyn) Clerkship Director.
This role requires a leader with a passion for education, clinical excellence, and the development of future students and residents. The successful candidate will work closely with program leadership and others to ensure the program’s success and alignment with Premier Health and WSU BSOM’s mission of providing exceptional patient care while advancing medical education. This position has opportunities to directly contribute to academic development, learner experiences, community-based research, community-based academic programming, and the department’s clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall operation of the OB/Gyn clerkship, ensuring it meets departmental and medical school learning objectives and is aligned with accreditation standards from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Manage a curriculum that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of OB/Gyn principles and practices.
- Provide didactic teaching, precepting, and mentorship to medical students. Ensure students receive timely feedback, track patient encounters, and adhere to policies.
- Ensure the clerkship meets all relevant accreditation standards.
- Work effectively with other course directors, faculty, and administrative staff within the medical school and affiliated clinical sites.
- Perform ongoing clinical activity in a manner reflecting the highest quality of care and professionalism.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
- Participate in the continuous improvement and evaluation of the clerkship program.
- Monitor student assessment and provide feedback and timely submission of grades and student narratives that comply
- Support student remediation planning and activities
- Support student career advising and student medical specialty interest groups
- Day/night/weekend/holiday In-House coverage of staff/private patients and supervision of medical students & resident physicians is required
Qualifications:
- Education:
- MD, DO degree
- Completed 4-Year OB/Gyn Residency
- Licensure and/or Certification
- OB/Gyn Board Certification (or Board-Eligible)
- Unrestricted Ohio Medical License
- Federally issued DEA License
- Experience:
- 1+ year of experience in medical education teaching role(s)
- Experience in clinical practice and medical education with proven leadership skills.
- Expertise: Knowledge of medical education principles and LCME standards
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including students, residents, faculty, and administration.
- Commitment to student and resident education and well-being.
Clinical Working Conditions:
Ambulatory care at Premier Health Berry Health Center OB/Gyn Clinic and Premier OB/Gyn – Sugar Camp practice sites
Inpatient and outpatient care primarily at Miami Valley Hospital and may also include other local hospitals (Miami Valley Hospital South & Dayton Children’s Hospital).
